Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
If the worst/inevitable happens and Rice goes to Chelsea there is a good chance we will take at least one if not two of their players as part of the deal. Probably one permanently and one of the younger players on loan.

Which 2 would you take from the list below given the choice?

Bakayoko
Rudgier
Barkley
Tomori (loan)
Loftus Cheek (loan)
Hudson Odou (loan)
Abrahams (loan)

None, they can fuck off..

Always disappoints me that the rivalry with them seems dead and even a little friendly. I hate them equally as much as Spurs.

i'd take Barkley and £80 mill and they can have Rice for a season's loan, i'd hate to see him in Chelsea colours. The rivalry with Chelsea is pretty dead, there fans are more plastic than Man Utd's nowadays

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd take any of their underperformers either.

And I wouldn't ever take any of our rival's younger players on loan to nurture them.

I like Loftus-Cheek, but he had that injury.

I hate the idea of taking one of their overpaid cast offs or rental of a young player just so they have to pay less money. All we are doing in that situation is helping them out, like WE are the ones wanting to push to push the transfer through and trying to make it more appealing for them.

We have the asset that THEY want. We should dictate the terms rather than bending over to make it more palatable for them. Straight cash deal, for a LOT of money. Use lurch McGuire's fee as a base, factor in inflation and the fact Rice is miles better.

None.

£70m or fuck off.

Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
I don’t think Rudiger would want to come here personally. Hudson-Odoi I’ve never seen do anything for all the hype. Barclay flatters to deceive, Loftus-Cheek constantly injured, Bakayoko struggled in our football and Tammy Abraham’s is fucking useless. I’d take Tomori on a permanent and that’s it but ideally we won’t deal with these cunts at all.

Peter Osgood and Ron “Chopper” Harris

People saying, they’d accept £70/80m

They realise we’d need a replacement player in that position right?

Who do you think we could get that wouldn’t weaken us?

Selling him at any price, really doesn’t make sense on any level. We will be weaker as a result.

El Scorchio 2:05 Mon Sep 28
Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
Dandy- I don't think anyone wants us to sell him for any price, but I think it's inevitable he'll go soon regardless. I think really what people saying 70-80 mill are saying is 'we want max cash value for him'.

A much as I would not trust Sullivan I don't think there is much chance of him going this window. He is still part of his risk mitigation for staying in the league and keeping the TV money cash flowing. Even bringing in 3 players is an "unknown" in terms of how they fit in the team, how effective they might be so too much of a risk.

He will go most likely next summer IMHO.

The question is if you get better value getting players than getting money. Or a bit of both.

Can’t see any of them replacing Rice so no.

He ain't going anywhere!

Eerie Descent 2:23 Mon Sep 28
Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
If he wants to go, then the only deal I would take is £60mil and Tomori. He'd be ideal for a right sided centre back in a back 3.

Would piss myself if Mount came the other way!

RM10 3:18 Mon Sep 28

cash only

Stubbo 3:22 Mon Sep 28
Re: Chelsea players in exchange for Rice
The ONLY way they should sell Rice is if they already have his replacement lined up and a price they have confirmed they can get that replacement for. The first choice replacement...not some scrabbling around, E of F option.

Obviously we're not that strategic, so I suspect we'd engage in some self-congratulatory bank-balance gazing, before swiftly realising we have no way to spend it without being had over a barrel for inferior product, and with no one identified to be the replacement we'd find a 30+ year old tactical stop gap that could 'do a job' until we could replace him properly, at which point half the cash goes on inflated wages and fees for said stop gap.
